phonology of Frisian

The phonology of Frisian

This project aims at compiling a compact phonology of Modern (West) Frisian. It will be a reference book, in which the study of the phonology of Modern Frisian up till now will be summarized. It goes without saying, however, that still many topics are in need of closer investigation. In order to be of use to the international phonological community, the book will be written in English. Its working title, therefore, is The Phonology of Frisian. After a general introduction to the Frisian language, the phoneme inventory, the syllable and syllabification, the phonological processes (at the word and at the sentence level), word stress, and ortography will be dealt with. Publication: not before 2002.
