Marit Bijlsma studied European Public Affairs with a focus on academics and innovation at the University of Maastricht (2012, cum laude). In her master dissertation she examined the Horizon 2020-programme of the European Commission and studied effects and opportunities for academic institutions. During her study she obtained work experience in Istanbul regarding European integration and legislation at The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB). In addition, she also interned at the consultancy PNO Consultants. After her study she worked on Public Affairs and financing of academic research at UM Campus in Brussels. From 2014 onward she works at the Fryske Akademy as Grant Officer.
