Language and Linguistics | 1st Conference on Frisian Humanities

The Fryske Akademy organizes the first Conference on Frisian Humanities, in the Municipal Theatre De Harmonie in Leeuwarden, on 23 to 26 April 2018, as part of the project Lân fan Taal (Country of languages) of Leeuwarden-Fryslân European Capital of Culture 2018.

On Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 April, the focus of the conference will be on language and linguistics in the Frisian regions. The focus will not exclusively be on the Frisian languages West Frisian, North Frisian and East Frisian, but also on other lesser used languages. We offer papers in all fields of linguistics, but there will be special attention to phonetics, historical linguistics, sociolinguistics, language contact and lexicography. The papers will be organised in thematic parallel sessions.
