Literature | 1st Conference on Frisian Humanities

The Fryske Akademy organizes the first Conference on Frisian Humanities, in the Municipal Theatre De Harmonie in Leeuwarden, on 23 to 26 April 2018, as part of the project Lân fan taal (Land of language) of Leeuwarden-Fryslân European Capital of Culture 2018.

On Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 April, there will be a session on literature in the Frisian regions and other lesser used languages: the 2nd Conference on Frisian Literature.

Frisian literature is as small as it is rich and full of mystery. It produced the Oera Linda Book, written in an artificial language, the 19th century folk humour of the Halbertsmas, the experiments of the subversive mastermind Trinus Riemersma, the epic poetry of the blind bard Tsjêbbe Hettinga and much more. Come and be a part of this wonderful conference.
