Medieval Frisia | 1st Conference on Frisian Humanities

The Fryske Akademy organizes the first Conference on Frisian Humanities, in the Municipal Theatre De Harmonie in Leeuwarden, on 23 to 26 April 2018, as part of the project Lân fan taal (Land of language) of Leeuwarden-Fryslân European Capital of Culture 2018.  

On Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 April, the focus of the conference will be on Medieval Frisia, more specifically on these three themes:

  • Medieval Frisia 1000-1500
  • Legal Culture in Frisia (a.o. the influence of Roman and Canon law in Frisia)
  • Mythology of the Frisian Freedom

Registration

The registration for the congress is open now:  www.frisianhumanities.nl

Students can register for 50% of the fees. The conference fee includes lunch and refreshments during coffee and tea breaks.

Conference visitors can book hotels in Leeuwarden at a reduced rate and can receive a 15% discount on a KLM flight ticket via the registration page.
