The Czech Republic makes available € 15.000 for the production and publication of a history of Frisian literature written in the Czech language. The amount has been awarded to Professor Wilken Engelbrecht by the Faculty of Letters of the University of Olomouc.

Professor Engelbrecht spoke at the first Conference of Frisian Humanities (section Frisian Literature), which was part of the activities carried out in 2018 when Leeuwarden was European Capital of Culture. He lectured about the knowledge available about Frisian literature in Eastern Europe.

Professor Engelbrecht obtained financial reimbursement from the University of Olomouc for the book on Frisian literature partly because his project was strongly recommended by Fryske Akademy.
