Participants sought for research on language variation

Participate

Linguist Femke van Seijen of the Fryske Akademy is working on a study of language variation in Frisian and Dutch. She is doing this within the framework of the international project 'Multilectal Literacy in Education' led by Prof Øystein A. Vangsnes of the UiT Arctic University of Norway. Do you speak Frisian and Dutch and would you like to help Van Seijen and her colleagues gain new insights into how the languages are spoken? If so, we would love to hear from you. The call is below.

Research on language variation in Frisian and Dutch

We are looking for Frisian native speakers!

Do you speak Frisian and Dutch and would you like to help us gain new insights into how the languages are spoken? Then we are looking for you!

Experiment

For a study on language variation in Frisian and Dutch, we are looking for participants for our experiment. In order to look at the way both languages are spoken, we will make audio recordings of how you speak within this study.

The study consists of two experiments (one Frisian-speaking and one Dutch-speaking), each lasting about 45 minutes, so about 1.5 hours in total. These parts will be conducted in separate sessions. As thanks for participating, participants will receive a payment of €10 per session.

Any native speaker of Frisian can participate in this study, no matter your gender, age, education or (Frisian) dialect. The experiment will either be recorded on location (the Fryske Akademy or the University of Groningen) or at your home. In both cases, it will be done by the research assistants. Any travel expenses to the Fryske Akademy will be reimbursed.
