Biography

Ewoud van Aalst (2000, Sneek) studied Secondary History Education (BA 2022) at NHL University of Applied Sciences and History & Heritage Consultancy (MA 2024) at the University of Groningen, where he conducted research for his Master's thesis on the reception of the Scandinavian pre-Christian gods in Saxo Grammaticus' Gesta Danorum (Gesta Deorum, over Saxo Grammaticus’ portret van de ‘heidense’ goden in de Gesta Danorum).

At the end of 2024, Ewoud did an internship at the Fryske Akademy to complete his Master's degree. During this internship, he contributed to the integration of the Old Frisian Charters into the Old Frisian Language Database. On September 1, 2025, he started as a research assistant to further contribute to the Old Frisian Language Database and also fulfills the role of research assistant at the INTERREG Redbad Project.
