Biography
Trudi Brink (1963, Ouderkerk aan den IJssel) has been a guest researcher at the Fryske Akademy since 1 October 2024. She obtained her master's degree in art history from Utrecht University in 2010. She graduated on the sculpture in the Van Brederodekapel in the Grote Kerk in Vianen attributed to Colijn de Nole.
From 2010 to 2013, she worked as a scientific collaborator at Utrecht University in the Medieval Memoria Online (MeMO) project. While describing Dutch grave monuments, the large, richly decorated tombstones in the province of Friesland caught her attention. In the period 1530-1640, some sculptors signed the tombstones they produced. This can be considered a special and typically Frisian phenomenon.
The doctoral research brings together historical, religious, genealogical, iconographic and literary aspects. Several publications have already resulted from it.
