Genealogical Working Group seeks new chairperson and secretary

Genealogical Working Group seeks new chairperson and secretary

The Genealogical Working Group (since 1946) delves into the paper past of Fryslân. Genealogists are involved in researching family trees, also in a broader context. For example, members of the Genealogical Working Group were involved in an exhibition at the Fries Museum about the painter Wybrand de Geest (1692-1663/1665) and every year they publish the Genealogical Yearbook: an important reference work for genealogists, historians and other researchers in Fryslân.

Would you like to contribute to genealogy in Fryslân, raise awareness of this topic and connect with the Fryske Akademy? To strengthen our working community, we are looking for a chairperson and a secretary for the Genealogical Working Group (volunteer work).

We are looking for a chairperson who (among other things)

  • has an affinity for and/or experience with genealogy;
  • enjoys organising and is good at keeping track of things;
  • is willing to contribute ideas about the future of the Fryske Akademy's working community;
  • is available for half a day per week.
  • The detailed call for applications can be found here in Frysk and Nederlands

We are also looking for a secretary who (among other things)

  • is good at monitoring decisions and action points;
  • is skilled at writing reports;
  • has a good command of both Frisian and Dutch or is willing to learn;
  • is available for half a day per week.
  • You can read the detailed call for applications here in Frysk en Nederlands.

Coffee?

Would you like to be part of a network of 150 enthusiastic genealogists and build connections with the scientific community? We would love to tell you more about these positions over a cup of coffee or tea! Please contact Jantine van der West by email before 3 December 2025. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
