Biography
Tom Slootweg (Voorburg, 1983) studied history and media studies at the University of Groningen. He also received his PhD at this university with a dissertation on amateur videography in the Netherlands between the 1960s and 1990s. Before joining the Fryske Akademy as an information specialist, he was a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at Utrecht University and assistant professor at the contemporary history department in Groningen. From 2020 to 2025, Slootweg was the editor-in-chief of TMG-Journal for Media History.
At the Fryske Akademy, Slootweg is the contact person for the Pure registration system and works on digitization questions for the institute's academic research.
