Biography

Siemone Zuidema obtained her Bachelor's degree in English Language & Culture in 2022 at the University of Groningen. Here, she became particularly interested in language development and multilingualism. She then began a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics in Groningen, focusing on multilingualism and minority languages, particularly in education. In her thesis, ‘Willingness to communicate: Comparing regional and immigrant minority language speakers in Fryslân’ she researched children's willingness to use their home language in the classroom. Since January 2026, she has been working as a research assistant at Mercator and the Fryske Akademy.
