The Argeologysk Wurkferbân (Archaeological Working Group) aims to bring together amateur archaeologists in Fryslânand tries to support archaeological research in the province.

By organising lectures, courses, practical activities and excursions, the Archaeological Working Group to increase members' archaeological knowledge. This can help make this hobby more meaningful. Another appealing activity is that members can participate in excavations organised by other institutions.

About the members' meeting
On Tuesday, October 7, there will be another members' meeting with a lecture by Cuno Koopstra, an archaeologist and project manager at Movares, about the latest findings from the excavation at Waagplein in Leeuwarden in 2023.

At the beginning of 2023, Waagplein in Leeuwarden was redesigned. Under the leadership of André Pleszynski, an excavation took place. Coincidentally, this coincided with his presentation for the Working Group in February 2023. He shared some initial findings about what was uncovered. However, now that the final report is ready, the analysis has revealed much more than what was initially evident from the findings alone. Now archaeologist Cuno Koopstra, project manager at Movares, will speak about the latest findings from the excavation.
