Maritime History Working Group: Members' meeting at the Skûtsjemuseum (NL)

The Maritime History Working Group (Wurkgroep Maritime Skiednis) aims to promote the study of and interest in the maritime history of Fryslân.

The board of the Maritime History Working Group invites its members to a meeting on Saturday 18 October in Earnewâld at the Skûtsjemuseum.

The afternoon will be devoted to the most famous type of ship in Fryslân: the skûtsje. Master builder Johan Prins has made a replica of the famous ship Aebelina, which won so many prizes in the nineteenth century that it was no longer allowed to compete in a number of races, and will talk about the construction of the ship. Prins' replica is on display in the museum. After the break, founder and director Age Veldboom will give a guided tour of the Skûtsjemuseum.

Guests are welcome.
