Corbie family subject in Genealogical Working Group lecture
The Genealogical Working Group of the Fryske Akademy invites everyone to its meeting on Saturday 4 January 2025 at 1.30pm in Tresoar. Maurice D. Heeremans and Niki Hiemstra will then give a lecture on the Corbée, Corbie, Corbié, Corbier, Corpiejé and Corpier families.
The families' most special personalities will be highlighted: the hard workers, the street characters and the so-called “rascals” in prison. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome, including non-members. You can read more information in the invitation from the work association.
Sian Wierda speaker second meeting in 2025
Saturday 1 February 2025 will be the second meeting of the Genealogical Working Group in the new year. Then Sian Wierda will be the guest speaker on the theme ‘Earmoed en kultuer yn de heidedoarpen’. Wierda is an editor at Omrop Fryslân and in his spare time he likes to delve into the past of his own family, part of whose mother's side is on the old moors.
This meeting is also at Tresoar, free of charge and starts at 13:30.
About the Working Group
The Genealogical Working Group digs into Fryslân's paper past. Genealogists are engaged in researching genera. They focus on the cohesion of those genera and the circumstances in which they lived. They do so to deepen their own understanding, but also to help others, such as historians, with the results of their research.
