Archaeological Working Group: excursion to Franeker (September 6, 2025)

The Argeologysk Wurkferbân (Archaeological Working Group) aims to bring together amateur archaeologists in Fryslânand tries to support archaeological research in the province.

By organising lectures, courses, practical activities and excursions, the Archaeological Working Group to increase members' archaeological knowledge. This can help make this hobby more meaningful. Another appealing activity is that members can participate in excavations organised by other institutions.

Excursion to Franeker

The board of the Archaeological Working Group invites you to an excursion to Franeker (NL) on Saturday, 6 September 2025.

The programme is as follows:

13:00 | City walk (1 hour), starting at Museum Martena (Voorstraat 35, Franeker) 
14:00 | Refreshments (Museum Martena) 
14:30 | Visit to Museum Martena with guided tour (1 hour) 
15:45 | Visit to the Planetarium (for those who are interested)

Package deal €15.00 per person, payment at the ticket office (discount cards such as the Museum Card are not valid). Coffee/tea with cake €2.50 per person. 
It is necessary to register by email with the author of the Werkverband, Koos Tiemersma.

Becoming a member of a working group

Anyone who is a donor to the Fryske Akademy can become a member of a working group free of charge. These are platforms for citizen science and meeting places for people with a shared interest or passion in areas such as genealogy, agriculture, archaeology or the maritime history of Fryslân. Members of working groups receive invitations to meetings, lectures and excursions. You can register for a working group via Adriana Kaspers (Fryske Akademy).
