Femke van Kammen wins Lyts Frysk Diktee 2025
Femke van Kammen of the Dr Theun de Vriesschool in Feanwâlden can write the best Frisian of all primary school children in Fryslân. With 10 mistakes, she was today the winner of the Lyts Frysk Diktee in the Provinciehuis, the writing competition for pupils from group 7 and 8. Second was Dieuwke Buma of the Master Frankeskoalle in Earnewâld with 11 errors. Third place, with 13 errors, was for Marianne van der Veen of Kindcentrum de Wel in Broeksterwâld.
Around 50 pupils from 24 schools participated in the finals of the Lyts Frysk Diktee today. Singer and writer Janneke Brakels wrote the dictation text and also read the dictation. The organisation of the dictation was in the hands of Cedin, Afûk, Fryske Akademy and the province of Fryslân.
Brakels had made a dictation text about a student who had to cycle to school through the rain. Consequently, the most difficult words this year were ‘ierdrykskundetoets’, ‘moatst’ (with -tst-) and ‘rûte’, which was often written as roete/route. More information about the Lyts Frysk Diktee can be found on the dictation website. There you can also find information about the Grut Frysk Diktee, which will be held on Tuesday 8 April at the Provinciehuis.
