About the Rymwurdboek

Frysker.nl is a tool for writing in Frysk (the West-Frisian language) and the successor to taalweb.frl. Frysker allows you to translate texts, check them and search dictionaries. The translation function uses Neural Machine Translation (NMT), a form of Artificial Intelligence (AI). 

In 2023, the rymje (rhyming) function was developed in Frysker based on the sound of Frisian words. The project could not have been launched without the enthusiastic and expert help of students Pieter Zijlstra, Teun de Vries and Sweder Oosterkamp. The grapheme to phoneme service and the Foarkarswurdlist developed by the Fryske Akademy played an important role. Thanks also to BW H ontwerpers for the design, the website and their contribution to the publicity. The project was funded by the Fryske Akademy.
