Livestream for fully booked lecture Viking Stories by National Museum of Antiquities

Because all tickets for the Viking Stories lecture at the National Museum of Antiquities on January 22, 2026, were sold out within a few hours, it has been decided to offer a livestream. Prof. Dr. Nelleke IJssennagger-van der Pluijm, Viking specialist and director-administrator at the Fryske Akademy, will be interviewed during the introductory opening speech.

In this first edition of Viking Stories, four internationally renowned scholars take the audience on a journey with fascinating stories about old and new research into the Viking Age. This June, the focus is on brave warriors and other stereotypes (and breaking them down), but also on old objects, new perspectives, and people from then and now.

Speakers include Eleanor Barraclough (Bath Spa University), Nelleke IJssennagger-Van der Pluijm (Fryske Akademy), Christian Cooijmans (University of Oslo), and Annemarieke Willemsen (National Museum of Antiquities).

The Viking Stories lecture is completely sold out, so you can no longer register for it. Still want to see it? Then sign up for the free livestream.
