OSCE delegation on working visit Fryske Akademy and Mercator
Staff members of the High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) of the OSCE – the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, visited the Fryske Akademy / Mercator European Research Centre on Wednesday. The aim of the visit was to share and gain knowledge and experiences in the fields of multilingualism and regional or minority languages in education.
After a warm welcome by Nelleke IJssennagger-van der Pluijm (managing director Fryske Akademy), presentations were held by Cor van der Meer en Ydwine Scarse (Mercator European Research Centre) and Babs Gezelle Meerburg (NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences). The information about and examples from Fryslân regarding language policy, education and multilingualism proved to be fruitful ground for discussion and exchange.
