Photo report Akademydei 2026 is online
On Friday afternoon, 11 September 2026, everyone was welcome at BOEL (formerly Zalen Schaaf) in Leeuwarden. The keynote speakers were archaeologist and palaeobotanist Mans Schepers (University of Groningen) and scent researchers Eveline de Smalen (Meertens Institute) and Inger Leemans (Professor at VU University Amsterdam), who spoke about nature in the time of King Redbad and the scents of Friesland.
Douwe Durk Breimer and Annemieke Galema were appointed as members of the Fryske Akademy. Jorris Kingma took home the thesis prize, whilst Louw Biesma received an honourable mention.
