Treffen im Steinhaus: the INTERREG Redbad Project
In Bunderhee, an important topic was the scientific collection about King Redbad, which is being written in close collaboration by a wide range of researchers. In addition to the Fryske Akademy, the Fries Museum, the University of Groningen, the Niedersächsisches Institut für Historische Küstenforschung and the Ostfriesisische Landschaft are also actively involved in this project.
The meeting in Bunderhee served primarily as preparation for a larger two-day international project partner meeting in Emden at 29/30 September. New and interesting research results were shared and solutions were sought for the challenges posed by the collection.
However, the scientific collection is only one of many components of the larger interregional project. There will be an impressive exhibition, which will first be on display at the Fries Museum and later in Emden, a book for the general public for anyone who wants to know more about Redbad, a game about his time developed by MytheMakers, and numerous other exciting initiatives.
Project REDBAD is being carried out as part of the Interreg VI programme Deutschland-Nederland and is co-financed by the European Union, the Lower Saxony Ministry for Federal and European Affairs and Regional Development, the Province of Fryslân and the Province of Groningen.
You can find more information about the project on the Interreg website.
