Biography
Jelske Dijkstra (Leeuwarden, 1979) studied speech therapy at Hanzehogeschool Groningen and general linguistics with a specialisation in speech technology and speech communication at the University of Amsterdam. She then worked as a scientific researcher on the Frisian speech therapy language instrument F-TARSP at the Fryske Akademy.
In 2008, she started her PhD research on the bilingual (Frisian-Dutch) language development of toddlers in Fryslân at the Fryske Akademy and the University of Amsterdam, to receive her PhD in Franeker in 2013. She then worked as an HBO lecturer in the speech therapy programme at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle and as a university lecturer in the European languages and cultures programme at the University of Groningen.
Dijkstra currently works as project leader of the Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism and Language Learning, part of the Fryske Akademy.
