Biography
Eveline de Smalen (1992, Vlaardingen) has a background in English and comparative literature and obtained her PhD in 2019 at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society at LMU Munich in Germany. After that, she worked as postdoctoral researcher on a project on literature and the Wadden Sea, and as a curator at the WEC in Lauwersoog. She is also co-founder of the Environmental Humanities Network at the University of Groningen.
She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at NL-Lab at the KNAW Humanities Cluster on the project “A nose for heritage”. As part of this project, she is a guest researcher at the Fryske Akademy. She also works as a freelance researcher.
