Archaeological Working Group at the Archaeological Finds Day at the Ice Age Museum Buitenpost
Have you ever found a pottery shard, coin, fossil or artefact? On Saturday 14 June from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can take them to the experts at the Bodemvondstendag (Archaeological Finds Day), organised by the IJstijdenmuseum (Ice Age Museum) on the grounds of De Kruidhof in Buitenpost. A delegation from our Archaeological Working Group will also be present on this day. The Archaeological Working Group aims to bring together amateur archaeologists in Fryslân and supports archaeological research in the province through numerous activities.
Will you be bringing your own finds? A reduced rate of €5 for adults and €2 for children aged 4–12 applies on this day. All the gardens at De Kruidhof are also freely accessible for this price.
Archaeological Working Group
By organising lectures, courses, practical activities and excursions, the group aims to increase the archaeological knowledge of its members. This can contribute to a more meaningful approach to this hobby. Another appealing activity is that members can participate in excavations carried out by authorised bodies.
