Fryske Akademy signs declaration of intent Magna Frisia
On 4 October, in the Theaterkerk in Nes (Noardeast-Fryslân), Marit Bijlsma and Dr Han Nijdam, on behalf of the Fryske Akademy, will sign a declaration of intent for substantive cooperation with the project group working on plans for the medieval museum village Magna Frisia. This open-air museum, due to rise near the Lauwersmeer in 2027, will take visitors back to the Fryslân of the period between the 5th and 7th centuries. The idea came from writer Willem Schoorstra.
The Fryske Akademy, like the Fries Museum, will support the project in terms of content, i.e. with our expertise. The Municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân has also already pledged various forms of support. At the signing ceremony on 4 October, a concrete project sketch and a feasibility study will be presented to the press.
