Guest researcher Rolf Bremmer talks abroad about Old Frisian
In early May, at the invitation of the Deutsches Seminar, Universität Zürich, Bremmer first gave a lecture on the Old Frisian Statutes of Magnus for the students of the course in Old Frisian, which is taught there every other year by Dr. Mirjam Marti Heinzle. This was followed by a lecture for Germanists, Anglists and Medievists on "The Medieval Frisian Registers of Compensation and Oral Tradition”.
From May 28-30, Bremmer participated in the annual symposium of the Associazione Italiana di Filologia Germanica, with the theme " Critica del testo e filologia germanica: specificità e problematiche dell' edizione dei testi germanici medievali. Bremmer delivered his lecture on "Karl von Richthofen's Friesische Rechtsquellen (1840): the Coming-of-Age of Editing Germanic Laws”.
Summer Schools
In July, Bremmer will give two lectures at the Old Frisian Summer School, a collaboration between the University of Groningen and Oxford University, to which the Fryske Akademy also contributes. During the summer vacation, he will give a course in Old Frisian for the Summer School in Languages and Linguistics at Leiden University.
