Join us on a cycling tour through the Hegewarren on our agricultural excursion!

Would you like to join us on a cycling excursion through the Frisian peat meadow area? On Saturday 30 May, our Agricultural Working Group, together with the Frisian Environmental Federation, has organised a visit to the Veen Innovatie Polder Hegewarren in Oudega (Sm.) and you are warmly invited!

What are the practical benefits of rewetting peatlands for the climate, nature and a future-proof farm? Can you farm on wet peat, and how do you do it? Apart from dairy farming, what other options are there for profitably exploiting wet peat? Through practical trials at two locations, the Veen Innovatie Polder (VIP) Hegewarren is seeking answers.

Field trip

The Agricultural Working Group and the Frisian Environmental Federation are organising, in collaboration with VIP-Hegewarren, a field trip to both trial sites.

Are you interested? Then register quickly, as there is space for a maximum of 40 participants. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The excursion is free of charge if you bring your own bike, as the distance between the two trial sites will be covered by bike. When registering, please indicate whether you will be bringing your own bike or would like to hire one. Hiring a bike costs €8,-. The hire bikes will be waiting for you approximately 1.5 kilometres from the excursion location.

The excursion starts at 13:00.

You will receive the exact locations of both the excursion and the hire bikes in the confirmation email following your booking.
