Magazine “Ut de Smidte” (summer 2025) published

The summer edition of “Ut de Smidte”, the magazine for members and donors of the Fryske Akademy, is out now and is once again packed with fascinating stories.

The magazine includes articles on the Lyts én Grut Frysk Diktee, guest researchers from abroad explain what their research is about, intern Louw Biesma talks about his fascination with the Frisian language, and American PhD student Meg Smith discusses her research into Old Frisian, the sister language of her own mother tongue, English.

This issue also features the departure of Anthonya Visser from the Supervisory Board, the upcoming retirement of colleague Peter van der Meer, and an extensive interview with our 86-year-old guest researcher Tseard de Graaf, who has been speaking Frisian with his wife for a few years now.
