Field Trip Archaeological Working Group
Join us on an excursion to the Huis van Hilde archaeology museum on 5 September 2026!
The trip is organised by the Archaeological Working Group.
Huis van Hilde
Huis van Hilde is the place to be for archaeology in North Holland. It consists of an archaeological repository and a museum. Through an intriguing collection of archaeological finds unearthed in North Holland, the museum tells the history of the province. From hammer axes from the Neolithic period to soldiers’ helmets from the Second World War; every find tells a story of a different era. In the museum, archaeological finds are made accessible to a wide audience. In the repository, the finds are examined for scientific purposes. Read more about the museum on their website.

About the Archaeological Working Group
The Archeologysk Wurkferbân (Archaeological Working Group) aims to bring together amateur archaeologists in Fryslân. With numerous activities, we try to support archaeological research in the province.
By organising lectures, courses, practical activities and excursions, we try to increase members' archaeological knowledge. This can help make this hobby more meaningful. Another appealing activity is that members can participate in excavations organised by competent bodies.
The Archaeological Working Group is organising a series of events during the 2026/2027 winter season:
- Lecture 1: Tuesday 6 October 2026
- Lecture 2: Thursday 12 November 2026
- Lecture 3: Tuesday 2 February 2027
- Lecture 4: Thursday 15 April 2027
