PhD defence by historian Mark Raat (University of Groningen)

Mark Raat (Medemblik, 1988) focused his doctoral research on the history of political decision-making regarding the development and use of the wetland area known as the ‘Lege Midden’ in the province of Friesland.

As well as providing insights into regional history, the research also sheds light on the origins of modern agriculture in the Netherlands. On 15 October, Mark Raat will defend his thesis at the University of Groningen. The ceremony, which begins at 2.30 pm, can be followed online via the University of Groningen website.
