A new corporate identity for the Fryske Akademy

85 years of scientific research into the Frisian case also means that we at the Fryske Akademy have been doing our best for 85 years to make our research work visible and usable. For our supporters, for the province of Fryslân and, of course, increasingly for the whole (digital) world.

New logo

What you now see on this website is our new logo and our new house style. This will hopefully keep us going for years to come This beautiful, new and fresh logo was designed by Michel Montsma and Bouwe Huisman of agency GPNo in Joure. We have been working with them for a long time and they understand that we are always looking for the balance between science and community.

The logo was created from the idea that, as scientists, we are always looking for the core. But also that the Fryske Akademy is and wants to be the centre of Frisiology. The logo looks like a labyrinth, but is so open that anyone can always enter and find their way. The shapes are clean, accessible, clear, but also playful The A in the logo even looks like a sticky pointer on a digital map. Like: ‘This is the place to be!’ But it also resembles the shape of the province of Fryslân, with the islands surrounding it.

The website was made by Anthony Scales from Screensuccess.

Implementation

In the coming weeks and months, we will implement these new colours and shapes in all our communications. On our cups, our pens, our stationery, our envelopes, our Ut de Smidte. But today we can already proudly show off our new website. This website, as well as that of the Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism and Language Learning, is not the final product, but a new beginning. There will probably still be some mistakes, there might still be something missing, but from here we can continue working.
