Grammar of Bildts appears

The Grammatica van het Bildts (Grammar of Bildts), written by Sytse Buwalda, will be presented at Campus Middelsee in Sint Annaparochie on Thursday afternoon, 4 April. The meeting starts at 4pm. At the presentation, linguist Dr Eric Hoekstra will give a lecture on Bildts. Bildts is a regional language spoken in the former municipality of Het Bildt in northern Fryslân. The Bildts language is a mixture language of Frisian and Dutch, created after the reclamation of the last part of the Middle Sea in 1505.

Support
When writing the grammar, Buwalda was supported with advice from linguists Pieter Duijff and Hindrik Sijens of the Fryske Akademy. They are therefore presented with the first copy of the grammar.

The grammar has been published by De Bildtse Boekerij. The new website of this publisher will also be available on Thursday 4 April. On that website, dozens of books can be viewed and downloaded.
