Cooperation Fryske Akademy and research centre BirdEyes

BirdEyes is the new centre for interdisciplinary and internationally oriented research and post-Master’s teaching in the field of climate change. It is an initiative of Professor of Migratory Bird Ecology Theunis Piersma and the University of Groningen. Combining knowledge from various different disciplines will make it possible to find answers to the complex challenges of our time.

The Fryske Akademy is one of the partners of BirdEyes. By bringing together the expertise of both knowledge institutes, it became clear that especially in place name research and historical linguistics, vocabulary in relation to biodiversity through time, the link with the landscape as it is mapped by HIsGIS and the research into maritime networks such as those in Friesland, there are many points of contact. In addition, the Fryske Akademy and BirdEyes can also cooperate with each other when it comes to linking data relating to Fryslân and in science communication.
