As a scientific institution, the Fryske Akademy has had members since its start. Akademy members are individuals from all over the world, who deserve this award on the basis of merits in the field of science, merits for Frisian culture, or great long-term enthusiasm for science or Frisian culture in general.

Nomination
Donors and members of the Akademy may nominate persons throughout the year for appointment as members of the Fryske Akademy. At the Akademydei, new members are appointed by the director-director, who is assisted by the nomination committee in evaluating the nomination.

For an appointment on Akademy Day in 2023 (Friday, September 8), nominations must be submitted by letter/email to the Director-Treasurer no later than Friday, March 31, 2023.

The nomination should clearly justify why the nominee deserves membership. If possible, we would also like to receive the nominee's contact information. Please include your own contact information as well, because if the nominee is appointed a member, we would like to invite you as well. If you are not sure whether someone is currently already a member of the Fryske Akademy, please check with the secretariat in advance: direksjesekretariaat@fryske-akademy.nl.
