Fryske Akademy partner of international conference TABU Dag

The Fryske Akademy is one of the partners of the annual TABU Day, an international conference on linguistics, named after the linguistic bulletin of the Netherlands Institute of the University of Groningen. For two days, on June 15 and 16, dozens of researchers will give presentations on neurolinguistics, computational linguistics, language acquisition, semantics, sociolinguistics, and other research areas within linguistics.

Colleagues

Also this year, various colleagues from the Fryske Akademy are on the programme of TABU Day 2023 with their research work. From the MultiLit project (Multilectal Literacy in Education), our colleagues Evelyn Bosma, Hans Van de Velde and Femke van Seijen contributed to the presentation 'Variation in Frisian and Dutch verb clusters: The effect of standard language literacy and ideology'. Wilbert Heeringa contributed to the research 'Changing regional language speakers populations in the northern Netherlands: Contrasts between the Frisian and Low Saxon language areas'. Both presentations will be held on Thursday 15 June in the Academy Building in Groningen.

Our former intern Alissa Vogel has been invited to present a research poster at TABU Day 2023. Her story is about '#estiktokat as a #breathingspace? – Legitimizing the use of Catalan on TikTok and the implications of a community hashtag'. Her poster can be seen on Thursday in the RUG's Harmonie building.

The full program and all other information can be found on the TABU Day 2023 website.
